Kiran Arora - 2019 - Formication CDr

 Prose Nagge ‎– 004

The 2020 Formication post matters because it is not just an earlier archive entry. This is my rip and upload of the Prose Nagge CDr, preserved here in MP3 form. That gives it a different kind of weight than a later FLAC repost or a label-side digital file. It carries the release as an underground object passing through a specific room, a specific computer, a specific moment in the archive, and a specific set of decisions about how to keep the thing moving.

Formication is a perfect title for Kiran Arora because the word already puts the body in the room. It means the sensation of insects crawling on or under the skin, and the music seems to use that false bodily alarm as its operating system. The track titles sharpen the picture: “Eldritch Gears,” “Nerve Clamp,” “Descent Sphincter,” “Drill Therapy,” and “Rife” all suggest procedures, symptoms, machines, and inner disturbances. It is part industrial action, part nervous-system theater.

The sound feels more inward than Fever Swamp. Fever Swamp spreads into humidity, rot, pressure, and mud. Formication crawls. It clamps. It needles. It turns the body into a haunted circuit board. The harshness is not only volume or density. It is sensation: friction at the edge of perception, little wrong signals, pressure points, and mechanical irritation. Arora keeps the material physical without reducing it to a single wall. There is movement inside the abrasion, and the track divisions make the release feel like a series of related symptoms.

The MP3 provenance is worth naming because this blog has never been only about ideal copies floating outside history. A rip is a document of contact. Especially with CDr noise releases, the chain matters: the disc, the drive, the software, the encoding, the person doing the transfer, the era of the upload, and the later listener trying to hear through all of that. This version of Formication is not just “the album.” It is this album as it passed through Private Release in January 2020.

As Prose Nagge 004, the release also sits inside the small-label CDr world where catalog numbers, hand-to-hand circulation, Discogs traces, and scattered uploads become the map. The CDr is not merely a budget format here. It is the right body for the music: compact, local, vulnerable, abrasive, and half-private even when shared publicly. Formication sounds like something that should arrive in a sleeve from a tiny label, get ripped by someone who cares enough to preserve it, and then keep crawling through the archive years later.

Anyone with the original CDr, edition details, label context, Prose Nagge memories, Kiran Arora show stories, or thoughts on the difference between this MP3 rip and later versions should add something in the comments. This is the kind of release where the transfer history is part of the listening history, and even a small detail can help the object regain its edges.
